Buju Banton Friends For Life Full Album Zip
the record begins with sabotage, a re-recording of the single i got this from the album killingfield. the line, make me feel like a woman, is sung with defiance, and the chords are so infectious that the lyrics are not even necessary, banton s hand is telling it to us. the single could be seen as a response to the hate that people in jamaica find themselves constantly hearing. thats the power of this album; it transcends the hate. at the end, when he pronounces his name, its not a gimmick. its buju, he says, and that matters.
buju banton is best known for creating dancehall music in the late '90s and early 2000s. his music is all about passion and rhythm and soul and feeling. this incredible full-length is his most mature body of work. (he's currently working on a new album.) it has the density of the reggae he grew up listening to, but it's global and universal, so that it has a universal quality.
despite his not being a million miles away from drake's recent duppy love-in, the best thing about this album is its production. with the exception of \"i dream,\" everything else here is strong and arresting. even the r&b songs are club friendly, from \"international noize\" to \"where's the wine.\" this is the buju banton album we always wanted from him, so if you missed out on the original albums, you owe it to yourself to buy this one.
buju's always been one of reggae's hardest-working and in-the-moment artists. he's willing to adapt to whatever direction the song is taking. that means sometimes it sounds like dancehall, r&b, or even rock. that's a great thing. it's a new direction in reggae, and while some might not like it, not everyone is into this mess of a new sound. fixtape shows off buju's still incredible ability to pull off a song, even if it changes up a little bit. for a relatively new artist, he's got many hits already and have grown as a songwriter with every release. fixtape is great for any fan of dancehall. the album can't help but attract fans of reggae and drake. he's hoping to spread it around the globe, and maybe if enough of the fans buy it, he'll do just that.
